We provide comprehensive Orientation and Mobility (O&M), Functional Vision (FVA)*, and Learning Media (LMA)* assessments to evaluate an individual's current visual functioning, travel skills, needs, and goals. These assessments form the foundation for customized training plans and ensure services are tailored to each person's abilities and environment.
*To maintain the highest ethical standards and avoid potential conflicts of interest, we cannot provide Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) for students within the Rutherford County Schools system at this time.
Our O&M services focus on building independent travel skills. This includes training in the use of a long white cane, navigating indoor and outdoor environments, understanding intersections, using public transportation, and applying sensory and spatial awareness techniques.
We work directly with families, schools, agencies, and community groups to increase awareness of blindness and visual impairments. Outreach includes workshops, consultations, and participation in events that promote accessibility, inclusion, and understanding.
We connect individuals and families with tools and strategies to support daily independence. This includes basic travel tips, environmental modifications, referrals to low-vision services, and guidance on adaptive tools and technology.
We provide expert guidance on Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance for public spaces and programs. Our trainings help organizations understand legal obligations, improve accessibility, and foster inclusive communities.
